Shifting Gears In Life

At various stages in life, we all encounter crossroads—moments that compel us to pause, reflect, and decide whether to change direction, accelerate, or slow down. How we move forward depends on how we navigate that drive,  embracing each turn with awareness and intention.

The rearview mirror offers a retrospective view of our journey. What do we choose to see? The well-travelled roads, breathtaking vistas, and adventures of discovery—those triumphant moments when we made unfamiliar, familiar? Or are we just focused on the  maze of dark tunnels, a pile-up of disappointments, and a fuel gauge that is perpetually on empty, leaving us to doubt whether the journey was worth the effort?

And when you look ahead, where is your focus? Is your foot pressed firmly on the accelerator of life, eager to explore uncharted possibilities? Or does it hover over the brake, cautiously navigating the congestion of doubt and fear—uncertainties coming from every direction and at varying speeds, in a journey of stop, start uncertainties.

To be in the driver’s seat is a choice. Ultimately, how well we drive, is shaped by our mindset. Not everyone is destined to speed along the fast track like an F1 driver, but every road offers its own rewards. Along the way, there are countless views to admire, where  getting lost, recalculating our coordinates, braking sharply, or making U-turns aren’t failures – is just part of the course. These twists and turns reveal new discoveries about where we are, who we are, and where we want to go. Experiences and lessons that a straight road cannot offer.

Life teaches us to check our engines, refill our tanks, clean our windscreens, and keep an eye on the side and rearview mirrors for a safer, smoother journey.

In truth, you don’t  really need a Ferrari or Lamborghini to enjoy the ride. As the saying goes—and forgive the adaptation—it’s not the model, but how you use it, that  matters.

When the road ahead looks bumpy, don’t STOP. Embrace AMBER and prepare to rev up for GREEN!

On your marks. Get set. Go! Enjoy the ride!
