EVEN THIS WILL PASS

That all too familiar feeling. A racing pulse, a churning stomach, and a deep sense of dread just thinking about what is ahead.

On a normal day you can do this all on autopilot.  Same routine, same people, same journey, same work. But for today, in this moment,  for some reason, every simple task becomes insurmountable.  Responding to the simplest of emails and  no-brainer decisions drag out in a painful process of indecisiveness, and what is usually just a regular conversation now  fills you with dread.

This discomfort that you feel when stressed, anxious or overwhelmed is normal.  You are going through what millions of people have gone through, and are going through this very minute across the globe. From the politicians you respect or deride, the celebrities who inspire and influence, to the people you work alongside and the strangers that  pass you on the street. Trust me when I say, that  you, like them, will also get through this phase.

We are all  warriors, explorers and survivors. When the going gets tough, draw on the courage and grit that got you through all the past hurdles in your life and remember the challenges that you thought you would never overcome, but did. Don’t forget to celebrate those many wins throughout your life, that got you to be where you are and who you are.

That phoenix will rise from the ashes, the light rays will find its way through your  dark clouds, and the pain that holds you prisoner, mentally, emotionally and physically will release its hold for you to emerge whole again.

Always remember  that you are not alone, and you don’t have to be alone.  It is okay to reach out, for help, for support or just for some company.  Make  “Me” the priority and give yourself the permission to step away and to have the time and space to be kind to yourself.
